==Life==
Carl Gustaf was born the fifth child and only son of '''Prince Gustaf Adolf of Sweden''' and '''Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha'''. Carl Gustaf's father was killed in an airplane crash twelve days after his birth, making the infant heir to the Swedish throne. 

Carl Gustaf ascended to the throne upon his grandfather's death in 1973.

==Marriage and Issue==
On 14 April 1985, Carl Gustaf married '''Theresa, Princess Royal''' in Stockholm. The couple had four children, '''Ingrid, Carl Johan, Margaretha,''' and '''Amelie'''. 

Carl Gustaf was widowed in 2019.
