On 7 October 2009, Luisa's engagement to '''Carlo V, Duke of Parma''' was announced. The couple were set to be married on 28 August 2010, however the declining health of the Duke of Parma led to a postponement of the wedding. The couple were eventually married in Parma on 20 November 2010.
