He became heir to the Sicilian throne upon the death of his grandfather in 2015.

On 25 September 2021, Giacomo married [[Lady Charlotte Lindesay-Bethune]] in Naples. The couple have one daughter, '''Francesca'''. On 12 September 2025, it was announced that Giacomo and Charlotte are expecting their second child.
