==Life==
Christian was born the second child and only son of [[Grand Duke Anton Gunther of Oldenburg]] and [[Princess Amelie of Lowenstein-Wertheim-Freudenberg]].

Christian became heir to the throne upon the death of his grandfather in 1970. He ascended to the throne upon the death of his father in 2014.

In 2022, the Grand Ducal court announced that Christian had been diagnosed with aphasia, and his son and heir would be stepping in as regent. In early 2023, the court released a statement confirming that Christian had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and the regency would be permanent, with Christian retiring from public life.
