Jean IV, King of France (born Prince Jean, Duke of Vendome on 19 May 1965) is the current reigning King of France. He is also a member of the Spanish Royal Family as the brother-in-law of Juan II, King of Spain.
Life
Jean was born the fourth child and second son of King Henri VII of France and Princess Marie Therese of Wurttemberg. His elder brother, Prince Francois, was born developmentally disabled due to his mother being exposed to toxoplasmosis during her pregnancy. In 2016, after years of conflict between Jean and his father, Jean was named heir to the French throne and his brother was declared incapacitated.
Jean succeeded his father as king upon his death in 2019.
Marriage and Issue
On 2 May 2009, Jean married Infanta Eugenie of Spain in Madrid. Jean and Eugenie have six children, Gaston, Antoinette, Louise Marguerite, Joseph, Jacinthe, and Alphonse.
