Caroline, Grand Duchess of Oldenburg (born Countess Caroline of Rantzau on 10 April 1962) is a member of the Oldenburg Grand Ducal Family as the current Grand Duchess consort. She is also a member of the Schleswig-Holstein nobility as the sister of Hans Caspar, Count of Rantzau.
Life[edit | edit source]
Caroline was born the third and youngest child of Christian Karl, Count of Rantzau and Heloise von Lettow-Vorbeck.
She became Grand Duchess consort upon the ascension of her husband in 2014.
Upon her husband's diagnosis of aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2022 and 2023, respectively, Caroline has limited her public appearances but continues to perform her duties in support of her son as regent.
Marriage and Issue[edit | edit source]
On 26 September 1987, Caroline married Christian, Hereditary Grand Duke of Oldenburg in Oldenburg. The couple have four children, Alexander, Philipp, Anton Friedrich, and Katharina.
