Marriage and Issue

On 14 April 1992, Francesca's engagement to Charles, Crown Prince of Austria was announced. Despite being of modest noble birth, the match was declared dynastic by Emperor Otto and the couple were wed in Vienna on 31 January 1993.

Charles and Francesca have three children, Eleonore, Ferdinand, and Gloria.

The couple have lived separately since 2003, but continue to perform public duties together.
