Ferdinand, Crown Prince of Austria (born Archduke Ferdinand of Austria on 21 June 1997) is a member of the Austrian Imperial Family as the only son and heir of Charles II, Emperor of Austria. He is also a member of the Bulgarian Royal Family as the grandson-in-law of Simeon II, Tsar of Bulgaria, as well as the Romanian Royal Family as the nephew-in-law of Margareta, Queen of Romania.
Life[edit | edit source]
Ferdinand was born the second child and only son of Charles II, Emperor of Austria and Francesca von Thyssen-Bornemisza.
He came heir to the Austrian throne in 2011 upon the death of his grandfather, Emperor Otto.
Marriage and Issue[edit | edit source]
On 6 April 2020, Ferdinand's engagement to Princess Mafalda Cecilia of Preslav was announced. The couple were married in Vienna on 31 January 2021.
Ferdinand and Mafalda-Cecilia welcomed their first child, Regina, in 2021. Their second daughter, Zita, was born in 2024. On 4 November 2025, it was announced that the couple are expecting their third child.
