Empress Katherine of Germany (born Princess Katherine of York on 12 September 1989) is a member of the German Imperial Family as the current Empress consort. She is also a member of the British Royal Family as the niece of James IV, King of the United Kingdom.

Life

Katherine was born the younger daughter of Prince Geoffrey, Duke of York and Lady Joan Pakenham.

Marriage and Issue

In 2007, Katherine met Georg Friedrich, Emperor of Germany at the wedding of Katherine's sister, Genevieve, to Leopold IV, King of the Belgians. On 27 August 2011, Georg Friedrich and Katherine married in Berlin. The couple have five daughters, Madeleine, Philomena, Felicitas, Adelheid, and Johanna.
