Princess Marie Caroline of Bavaria (born 23 June 1969) is a member of the Bavarian Royal Family as the niece of Franz, King of Bavaria. She is also a member of the Wurttemberg Royal Family as the aunt of Wilhelm III, King of Wurttemberg.
Life[edit | edit source]
Marie Caroline was born the second child of Max, Crown Prince of Bavaria and Countess Elisabeth Douglas.
In 2023, Bavarian succession law was changed to allow for female succession. Shortly after, Marie Caroline's sister, Sophie, Hereditary Princess of Liechtenstein, renounced succession rights for herself and her descendants in favor of her. Later that month, the Wurttemberg court announced that Marie Caroline and her family would move to Bavaria to support King Franz and Crown Prince Max.
In 2024, upon their move to Bavaria, King Franz bestowed the title of Prince/Princess of Bavaria on her husband, Albrecht, and their children.
Marriage and Issue[edit | edit source]
On 27 July 1991, Marie Caroline married Prince Albrecht of Wurttemberg in Munich. Albrecht and Marie Caroline have four children, Sophie, Pauline, Carl Theodor, and Anna.
