Queen Gisela of Saxony (born Princess Gisela of Bavaria on 10 September 1964) is a member of the Saxon Royal Family as the current Queen consort.

Life[edit | edit source]

Gisela was born the seventh and youngest child of Prince Rasso of Bavaria and Archduchess Theresa of Austria.

In 1997, Gisela's husband was named Crown Prince of Saxony by his childless uncle, and the family moved from Bavaria (where they had been living as private citizens) to Saxony to take up royal duties.

Gisela became Queen of Saxony upon her husband's ascension in 2012.

Marriage and Issue[edit | edit source]

On 29 August 1987, Gisela married Alexander, Prince of Saxe-Gessaphe in Munich. Alexander and Gisela have four children, Georg Philipp, Moritz, Paul, and Maria Teresita.
