==Life==
James was born the second child and eldest son of '''Grand Duke Borwin of Mecklenburg''' and '''Princess Helena of the United Kingdom'''.

He became heir apparent to the Mecklenburg-Strelitz throne upon the death of his grandfather in 1996, heir to the united Mecklenburg throne upon the merger of the grand duchies in 2001. He ascended to the throne upon the death of his father in 2024.
