Duarte III, King of Portugal (born Infante Duarte Pio, Duke of Braganza on 15 May 1945) is the current reigning King of Portugal. He is also a member of the Sicilian Royal Family as the brother-in-law of Pietro, King of the Two Sicilies.

Life

Duarte was born the eldest son of King Duarte II of Portugal and Princess Maria Francisca of Brazil.

Duarte ascended to the throne after his father's death in 1976.

Marriage and Issue

On 13 May 1995, Duarte married Princess Cristina of the Two Sicilies in Lisbon. The couple have three children, Alfonso, Maria Francisca, and Dinis.
