Princess Irene of Brazil (born Princess Irene of Mecklenburg-Strelitz on 18 April 1952) is a member of the Brazilian Imperial Family as the sister-in-law of Pedro V, Emperor of Brazil. She is also a member of the extended Mecklenburg Grand Ducal Family as the aunt of James, Grand Duke of Mecklenburg.
Life
Irene was born the third child and youngest daughter of Grand Duke George Alexander of Mecklenburg-Strelitz and Archduchess Ilona of Austria.
Marriage and Issue
On 12 December 1977, Irene married Prince Manuel of Brazil. They couple have two children, Luisa and Manuel.
