Life[edit | edit source]

Anne Marie was born the third and youngest child of King Frederik IX of Denmark and Princess Ingrid of Sweden.

Marriage and Issue[edit | edit source]

In 1959, Constantine and Anne Marie met during a state visit from Greece to Denmark. In 1961, they became secretly engaged due to King Frederik IX's concern over Anne Marie's young age - Anne Marie was fifteen while Constantine was twenty-one. The engagement was finally officially announced in 1963, and the couple were married in Athens on 18 September 1964, six months after the death of Constantine's father. The couple had five children, Alexia, Paul, Nikolaos, Theodora, and Philippos.

Anne Marie was widowed in 2023.
