Mikhail Pavlovich, Grand Duke of Russia (born Prince Franz Wilhelm of Prussia on 3 September 1943) is a member of the Russian Imperial Family as the current Grand Duke consort.
Life[edit | edit source]
Wilhelm Franz was born the eldest child of Prince Karl Franz of Prussia and Princess Henriette of Schonaich-Carolath.
In 1983, Wilhelm Franz's wife was named Tsarevna of Russia and successor to her father, Emperor Vladimir. Shortly after, he converted to the Eastern Orthodox faith and was given the name Mikhail Pavlovich and the title of Grand Duke of Russia.
Upon his wife's accession, Mikhail was given the style of Imperial Majesty and the title The Grand Duke of Russia.
Marriage and Issue[edit | edit source]
On 22 September 1976, Mikhail married Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna of Russia in Saint Petersburg.
Maria and Franz Wilhelm have lived separately since 1985, but remain married and continue to conduct public duties together.
