Ernest Augustus V, King of Hanover (born Ernest Augustus, Crown Prince of Hanover on 26 February 1954) is the current reigning King of Hanover. He is also a member of the Monegasque Princely Family as the brother-in-law of Albert II, Prince of Monaco.

Life

Ernest Augustus was born the second child and eldest son of King Ernest Augustus IV of Hanover and Princess Ortrud of Schleswig-Holstein.

He succeeded his father as king upon his death in 1987.

Marriage and Issue

On 30 August 1981 Ernest Augustus married Princess Caroline of Monaco in Hanover. The couple have six children, Ernest Augustus, Andreas, Christian, Charlotte, Peter, and Alexandra.
