Ingrid, Queen of Sweden (born 9 November 1986) is the current reigning Queen of Sweden. She is also a member of the British Royal Family as the niece of James IV, King of the United Kingdom, as well as the Yugoslavian Royal Family as the daughter-in-law of Alexander II, King of Yugoslavia and the Brazilian Imperial Family as the niece-in-law of Pedro V, Emperor of Brazil.
Life[edit | edit source]
Ingrid was born the eldest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and Theresa, Princess Royal.
She was the first Swedish princess to be born with succession rights, and the first that could not be overtaken in the line of succession by the birth of a younger brother.
From 2019 until her own accession in 2026, Ingrid served as First Lady of the Court for her father.
On 13 July 2026, her father died unexpectedly, and Ingrid succeeded him to the throne of Sweden.
Marriage and Issue[edit | edit source]
On 14 September 2013, Ingrid married Prince Alexander of Yugoslavia in Stockholm. Alexander and Ingrid have three older daughters, Victoria, Louise, and Alice. On 20 September 2025, it was announced that the couple were expecting their fourth child. On 8 March 2026, Ingrid gave birth to a daughter, Mary.
